So this is my post about Puella Magi Madoka Magica because I pretty much just need to jump up and down about it.

It's the first anime in a long time that's really grabbed and affected me. The phrase "post-modernist deconstruction of the magical girl genre" makes my Oberlin/latent academic heart just sing with joy, and it's so well done and the levels, man. THE LEVELS. There's like twelve. Seriously. I cannot even get over how much went into this. I have six fucking icons for this shit now.

Also, it has given me a muse. And I hate muses. In fact I don't even believe in muses. I don't have muses, I have demons. But now I also have Charlotte (see icon). What the fuck. I'm so confused. It started by my making a Charlotte iphone cover for caffeaffogato, and then...I don't know. I find Charlotte (and this show, I guess, by association) inexplicably inspiring, maybe because it makes me want to craft, which is less painful than writing.

It's actually a struggle to not make this post consist solely of the word "CHARLOTTE." And if anyone is planning to watch it, I can't actually say much about her. ABOVE THE CUT.

I love this description of Charlotte from the Wiki:

"The dessert witch, with a tenacious nature. She desires everything. She will never give up. Though she is capable of creating infinite amounts of any dessert she desires, she is unable to make the cheese that she loves most. One could easily catch her off-guard with a piece of cheese."

SHE CAN BE DEFEATED BY CHEESE. I find this so endearing and awesome. XD

She's so cute! I like to call her "Cheesewitch," which Chenya then usually answers with "Cancerwitch." :F

We've talked about the idea that Mami was cheese-colored, so maybe Charlotte got confused.

I like Kyouko a lot too. She's got some Asuka in her, although I think Asuka would probably win any fight they got into.

It's amazing. It's still airing, although the last two episodes were postponed because of the earthquake, although hopefully they'll be out in April. Chenya downloaded it from somewhere? I'm sure it's out there for touching.
