Talking to martians through the laundry chute
This morning I actually got out of bed at my third alarm. This is was a huge success for me, and I was very proud of myself. I felt like a real grownup. Except for the part where I'd fallen asleep in my clothes and forgot to brush my teeth. You win you lose.
I spent yestereve with
cecilmcgrlybts and others, as foreordained, ate too much delicious food, spent a while pouring over the "Cakewrecks" book and having the pigs admired. It was good times and makes me sad that he will go away again next week.
caffeaffogato linked me to this today, and I want it, but I'm still holding out for Mami, with the hopes that she'll come with a Charlotte. Or Kyouko. As if I really needed more things.
Anyway, that question meme? Oh I got some questions! I will now answer them for the greater good.
From
lady_leia_solo:
1. Did you want to be a pirate when you were little?
Actually, no. The piracy is a fairly recent thing.
2. If not, what did you aspire to be as a child?
A paleontologist. Then an actor, then a cartoonist. Then I started high school and thought I wanted to be a professor. Now I want to be a princess novelist guinea pig rancher who fluffs John Cho's hair on the weekends. My goals have actually gotten more ridiculous as I've gotten older.
3. What was/is your favorite subject in school?
History. I love history. And I write damn fine history essays/papers. Or did, it's been a while.
4. What's your favorite genre of music?
I dunno, I listen to a lot of random stuff. I'm kind of inclined to say "alternative," which apparently no one uses anymore. But that is the rock I listened to as a teen, and by god it defined me or something!
5. Who's your favorite singer?
Bic Runga or Emilie Autumn. Although I will always a have a soft spot for Tori Amos pre-"The Beekeeper."
From
mabith:
1. Top five (or ten, your pick) favorite X-Files episodes
This question is beautiful and I love it.
Redux, Redux II, Syzygy, One Breath, Demons, Elegy, Milagro, The Unnatural, Three of a Kind, Tithonus. ...the sad part is that I can keep going. (X-Cops, Chimera..)
2. Favorite Ouran Host Club Haruhi pairing (and why)
You know, I'm not sure. I was always somewhat partial to Haruhi/Tamaki, but I don't actually have a good reasoning. I guess that Haruhi/Hikaru is actually fairly compelling, if largely because of the tension it would create between the twins, and how it would require them to learn to function as individual people.
3. First place and time you would go if you had a time machine (and why)
I think I actually might go back to somewhere in the US in the fifties, if only to peer strangely at everyone and watch some of the truly bizarre commercials and social hygiene films they had back then. Or you know...maybe I'd go sit in the trenches with the Manhattan Project scientists at the Trinity Test. Perhaps I would have stolen Oppenheimer's hat.
4. Favorite book/s you read as a kid
LITTLE FUR FAMILY. I still love that book. And "Olga Da Polga," about a sassy guinea pig. And I had some pretty sweet and adorable Sesame Street-inspired books too, like "My Doll is Lost." (Said doll is eventually found, thank goodness.)
5. If you could have any job in the world (even made-up jobs like "Queen Traffic Warden" or "Brigadier General of Ice Cream Tasting") what would you be?
Probably a "Guinea Pig Softness Tester" (thanks to
starsandgraces) and part-time freelance writer.
It's not actually a terribly nice/warm day, but
jou has been trying to lure people over to enjoy the pool at her apartment, so I may do that instead of going to the gym, and then make tamagoyaki for dinner. Also I brought a bagel for lunch and now I really want pizza instead. Boo-urns.

HOMURA! Who is your favorite Madoka Magica character?
Hmm. I think there's something wrong with the HTML in the children books question. I'm not seeing any of Beatrix Potter's books. ;)

HOMUHOMU. Urrgh, I'm kind of stupidly attached to Mami for some reason, and then Kyouko. But really? CHARLOTTE.
OH NO YOU'RE RIGHT THE UH...WEBS SCREWED UP MY...BEATRIX POTTER...NESS.... >.>
...I'm sure I read those too, I just I forgot! I had a lot of books! Don't judge meeeee!
