The idea behind giving notice in good time, though, is that your boss won't be P.O'ed and will give you a good work reference if someone calls in the future (although idk how WI laws work, but under CA law, unless you list your boss as a reference, she can only confirm your dates of employment and nothing else). And of course, giving notice in good time assumes that you even give a fuck how much trouble you'll give by making your boss scramble to fill the empty shifts you leave.
