Sofa Cock/Crab Battle/Calm Ocean
Aug. 23rd, 2005 12:17 pmBecause the first question everyone asks when they see me online is "How was Otakon," I will now answer everyone forever and ever with this:
YES IT WAS AWESOME YES YES YES OH MAN YES.
I'm not sure where to start explaining, though.
The bad news first: Somehow my laptop's LCD screen got cracked, and every crystal is bleeds is a wound on my very soul. I don't know how much it's going to cost to fix it, but I obviously have no choice except to do so, as it is my very life.
But no more tears.
I missed my 5:30 flight on Wednesday due to sheer awesomeness, and my reactions were truly something to behold. This is what I get for not sleeping. Anyway, I got to Dulles later than expected, but found Aja and glomped her, whereupon she put me back on the plane and that was the end. The end.
Yeah, well, we played around Hagerstown and now all I want is another freakin' cherry gelati, and then we went to dinner with Zoe of Awesome, and stayed up way too late again with "Black Books" (Bob and Decken, we should procure this) and AMVs and ironing.
Thursday morning Aja gave in to my whimpering about wanting to do a photo shoot, and these are the results. Please ignore every time she says something about herself not being fucking gorgeous, because she is gucking gorgeous all the goddamn time. Like it's insane. So she's crazy, disregard her nonsense.
Heaven is lost...but found...right over there!
We journeyed forth to Otakon, where I got to play the fun "if everyone else around me is on staff, they assume I'm on staff too!" game, which meant I got to walk around back corridors and cut in front of approximately 500 people to get my badge. BOOYAH. Eventually located Miko (Lauren) who joined us for excitement and then I proceeded to kick Aja in my sleep and steal the covers.
Friday was Howl day, and here is another link to more pictures of the most beautiful Howl ever and Markl (AAARGH!) and me attacking FMA things:
The eight year old boy would be me. (If you don't see the costume pictures right away, scroll down! But the other pictures are also full of entertainment, promise.)
I made what was supposed to be my stupidest purchase on Friday, which was a big Ed doll featuring Ed in his Munich clothes, and which was psychotically adorable. It was $40, and I didn't want to lose my chance, so he became mine.

...of course, he needed an Al.
I was disappointed in the complete and utter lack of Elricest doujinshi, but I guess it saved me some money. They were selling things that should have been 200 yen for upwards of $15. Bastards.
Saturday morning was the fanfic panel, which I really wanted to be on, but I was a good audience member. I think I terrified
liete, who spent most of it sitting next to me like I was going to eat her head, which wasn't a totally unwarranted fear, but I really didn't mean to scare her!
Also, Julie, I'm sorry I lost you! :( We were too late for the FMA photoshoot and then time was lost and I didn't know where to find you!
I also flat-out knocked Ink over with an amazing tackle-run, and then totally blanked on what to say, which was lame of me. She vanished all too quickly, and that was very sad too.
Aja as Ed and myself as Al pictures will come later, and all will be shown. Let it be known we were awesome and cute and oh so full of brotherly love. Until I ran away from her friend Christy and did the solo alchemist thing for a while.
Later on Saturday Ed-plush was joined by a large Armor Al doll, who was also expensive. They love each other very much. Pictures of their love were taken, but they're on Zoe's camera, so I'll have to be good and hope she shares them. :)
Sunday I went away.
Said goodbye to Aja and Zoe outside of the room where they were showing Howl, and then to make myself feel better, I went and made what really was my stupidest purchase by far - a $60 FMA sweatshirt. But seriously, this is an amazing sweatshirt. Oh so much flamel in my life. And fuck I love sweatshirts.
Pictures will appear later. But believe that it is HOT.
I hitched a ride to Sang's with her friend Leigh and then spent the rest of the day immersed in Korean food, the "Anne of Green Gables" anime (surreal, but weirdly addictive), and Sang-y goodness. It was so good to see her again, and she spoiled me with tasty goodness and a little red panda that is now named in her honor. Sang must come to Wisconsin. Sang must do this thing.
And then I came home and went almost directly to work.
I've been told I need to attend NekoCon, and I certainly can't fault that logic.
Today is my mom's birthday, so I must unpack my suitcase for her and buy her a card, and then give Bob and Decken the things from Sang.
Shuuura and Z, I miss you like the sunshine misses the pain, or maybe it's the rain, whatever that means, but you can bet it's a lot.

YES IT WAS AWESOME YES YES YES OH MAN YES.
