Okay, before I do my official Ycon leaving message, I wanted to post these, since I blather about them all the time.

There are five albums in this world that I conside to be "perfect." I always have to listen to them all the way through, and they invoke a myriad of emotions and memories as well as being musically stunning in my mind.

So here are my favorite two within that masterful five. Hope y'all will give them a chance and download them. They're all zipped, but I've posted the track order here, and the ones with stars next to them mean they're extra special-happy-I-love songs.

Weezer - Pinkerton(zip)

This is, in my mind, the most perfect rock/alternative/whatever album ever created, which deals with the crucial themes of sex, asian women, and sex with asian women. It's cynical, snarky, witty and beautiful, and it never stops being amazing. It was utterly panned when it came out and I've never understood why. It is, probably, my favorite CD in the history of time.

1. Tired of Sex
2. Getchoo
3. No Other One
4. Why Bother?*
5. Across the Sea*
6. The Good Life
7. El Scorcho*
8. Pink Triangle
9. Falling For You*
10. Butterfly

Bic Runga - Beautiful Collision (zip)

I bought this CD Thanksgiving Day 2003 in Japan, and it's incredibly special and personal to me, especially the songs that remind me of Osaka and Tokyo. It's also beautiful and her voice is gorgeous, and it's one of the few albums Don and I can agree on these days in our mystical worlds of opposing musical interests.

I would wait all day in the rain to see this woman. I would.

1. When I See You Smile
2. Get Some Sleep*
3. Something Good
4. Precious Things
5. The Be All and End All
6. Election Night
7. Honest Goodbyes
8. She Left On a Monday
9. Beautiful Collision
10. Listening For the Weather*
11. Counting the Days
12. Gravity
13. Good Morning, Baby
14. Sway

And just because it's thematically appropriate: Guster - "Airport Song"

Please download and if you like, let me know what you think! :D

Oh god, Pinkerton is so good, yes. Its lack of popularity was a combination of poor press from Rolling Stone and general confusion of Weezer's audience, who were all expecting something more like Blue- happy and silly and generally much ligher pop. But aside from RS, the critics loved it... It's definitely more popular today than it was when it came out, though. Terribly sad.

It breaks my heart that the press so destroyed Rivers Cuomo that he practically went into hiding for 5 years because it was so personal for him, and I dunno, after that Weezer was never the same.

But YAAAAY I'm glad you like it too! ♥

Weeelll... I do feel bad for the guy, but it's not entirely the fault of the press. Like I said, critics generally liked it quite a bit. But I think the issue is more that of Rivers' totally bizarre personality. It's true, though, that the failure of his most personal and most experimental album caused him to try and "perfect" Blue, directly resulting in Green, which is... mediocre. I don't even want to touch on Maladroit, that's just a train wreck. And then he tried to get back to the personal tone of Pink but kept the sound of Green for Make Believe, and it ends up feeling childish, but better than its two predecessors... Yeah, anyway, moral of the story is I love Weezer but Rivers is a freak. :D;;;

Lady, thank you so much for Bic Runga. Her voice is so lovely and silvery; I am just in love with this album now.

Also, Pinkerton is one of my favorite albums. *Thinks* I guess it is in my car. I need to go find it.
