Is it raining with you?

Tornadoes have been lurking all day - they even blew the sirens at one point, but it only rained for a moment, and people still kept coming into the store and it made me even more agitated because I wanted them to go so we could lock the doors and hide in the back.

Anyway, I'm at home now, but it's all damp and warm out and so creepily still. There are no leaves moving at all. It's at the point where I'm so tense I just want something to happen so I can stop holding my breath.

Don is supposed to come over soon, but I think Oni and I will be sleeping in the guestroom if not the basement tonight.

It was about 95 and disgustingly humid here with no wind. I hope there were no tornadoes there! We're in for two more days of our gross heat...

It's actually kinda cold in Seattle lately (well, not cold, exactly, 50 degrees and cloudy isn't cold, but it's certainly colder than I've come to expect from fuckin' JUNE). With occasional rain (on Monday we had rain so heavy the first floor of our building actually flooded and now the stairwells and the lobby smell of carpet shampoo).

I'm such a West Coaster; tornadoes freak me the hell out. At least with earthquakes, you really can't predict them so you can't be properly anxious about 'em. It's like a meteor strike. You never know when it's going to happen, so there's really no point in worrying about it.
