So I'm close to tasting things again. Everything is just sort of muted. But it's an improvement, and we all like that.

In related news, a week after coming home broken from Aruba, Danielle managed to seriously burn herself at work, and there was much discussion about whether it was second or third degree (second was my vote). Eventually she went to the ER, and it was a very bad second degree (prompting me to shout "I AM A DOCTOR" which I totally am) and she had a fever but her crotch was doing okay and they cleaned up her burn and she went to bed so. Here's hoping she manages to get through today without I dunno, dropping some concrete sandwich on her head.

Since I'm already going to be seven thousand years lateish for work, here is a meme I begged from [livejournal.com profile] dark_reaction!

Comment on this post. I will choose seven interests from your profile and you will explain what they mean and why you are interested in them. Post this along with your answers in your own journal so that others can play along.

1. Are you watching closely

This is a sort-of tagline from "The Prestige," which is one of my favorite movies in the history of ever, and running very close to being my absolute most favorite period. It's the question of the very heart of the movie, it means so many different things and Alfred Borden says it and Alfred Borden is my secret heart. God I love that movie.

2. board in brain

A long time ago, [livejournal.com profile] nymeria "hacked" into my LJ and gave me a lot of really strange interests. This is one of them, but it actually comes from a picture I drew while sitting in some class in grad school that was undoubtedly driving me crazy.

El tadah.

3. boring postcards

A long time ago (before I went to college), I saw a book. It was a book of boring postcards. It was called "Boring Postcards." I knew I had to have it. In my mind it would help me make friends in college.

...well so the book didn't, specifically, in the end, but it's awesome and it's exactly what it sounds like, it's a book with pictures of boring postcards from like...hotel lobbies and highway interchanges. They are so boring and they are so awesome.

4. fountain sodas

I love fountain sodas, love them. They are sodas obviously from a soda machine at a restaurant or something, you know, where you push a button and the soda comes down into the cup in which you have strategically put the required amount of ice... Yes. I love them. It could be said I have an active addiction to them because I seek them out even when canned soda is readily available. They are fizzy and beautiful and I like straws.

Soda and I also have a deep relationship in general, that involves the madness of my stomach and the need for caffeine. This is just basically my favorite soda-delivery-mechanism.

5. I’m on fire

...generally I just say this. I've used it as an excuse for a number of things. If you call my cell phone, my answering machine actually says "I'm on fire right now, so I'll call you if or when they put me out," although I need to change it soon to make myself more hireable.

My sketch comedy group in college had several sketches that involved people suddenly being on fire, one in particular describing a movie called "I'm On Fire, Yes That's Right I'm Burning, Please Don't Just Stand There And Watch," which of course I found hilarious. So I think that's the genesis.

6. nail gun massacre

"Nail Gun Massacre" is a terrible movie. It is a terrible, terrible movie. It's certainly one of the worst movies I've ever seen. I have had no less than five people be unable to get more than 15 minutes into it. It has hideous people being hideous and stupid and having hideous stupid sex and being horrible and getting killed with a nailgun and lots of horrible puns and a yellow hearse.

Of course I own it.

Megan and I rented it years ago from Hollywood Video. When it went out of business, I said to myself "This movie is so unconscionably bad, someone must be sure it is carried forward into the future." I designated myself as the bearer of "Nail Gun Massacre" and I have been ever since. When I saw the DVD several years ago I may have actually shrieked. The "liner notes" are actually pretty funny, and very tongue in cheek, so I think they know how awful a film this is.

7. sweet jumps.

...uh...I just really liked "Napoleon Dynamite." My cousins had my ex-boyfriend and I watch it on a trip to California and we proceeded to drive my parents crazy by endlessly quoting it for several days after. I still find it charming. But I admit, I'd honestly forgotten that was in my LJ interests. :F

The more you know! Right. I'm going to work now. Peace.

Don't really have to choose from my interests, but I'm up for it if you are. Anyway, just wanted to say I like how your interests aren't run of the mill.

Thank you! I try to be um...you know. different. :F Although a lot of the strange ones are really [livejournal.com profile] nymeria's fault. :)

Yours are pretty great too - let me just say my heart melted a little at "Mathnet." I loved that.

I AIM TO BE INTERESTING! And much of the time fear I'm not, so. :F

But again, a lot of the weirder ones are the result of a British minx with my password.
