I've loved guinea pigs for 20 years, but Oni made it real. She's the reason I love Nicky and Olivia so much. She was a joy and we were so close.

I wish I hadn't spent so much time away from her at grad school. I know she was well taken care of, but I wish we'd had more time. I wish I hadn't listened to that first vet that said she was fine when I knew she wasn't. I wish I'd done more.

In the space of October 2007 to October 2008, I lost three family members. She was the last.

It's not October 6, but I'm crying anyway. I will always miss you, baby, and always be grateful I knew you. And always wish.

Oni was certainly the special-est of pigs, both for the fact that she was Oni and the fact that you love her so. Because of her, you have been able to give your love to other pigs who need you, even if one in particular doesn't always show it.
