So I don't even know where this week went. Sadly, both [livejournal.com profile] jazzy_peaches and I were overcome with unpleasantness on Tuesday and were unable to hang out, but I will have her yet. The week continued, there was rain, and last night I picked up Megan and her new puppy from the airport and then retrieved a sick Danielle from a club downtown. I am a chauffeur about town.

Tomorrow is Catherine's wedding, and it will involve seeing a lot of people I haven't spoken to in nearly ten years. That'll be an adventure.

Anyway, I tricked two people into playing an icon meme with me, and now I will unleash the answers upon the world!

1. Reply to this post, and I will pick six of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts. (Yes, I do realize that diddling around until the middle of a three-day weekend means that probably no one will respond.)
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon squee.

I LOVE ICONS!

From [livejournal.com profile] kopernik,

This is a ridiculously hot/dramatic picture of Asuka Langley Sohryu from Neon Genesis Evangelion, and I spelled that all out for those of you who don't know about our deep love. ...we have a deep love. Asuka is one of my very favorite characters of all time - initially I hated her, then I coopted Don's love of her and ran away with it and loved her more than he ever could. She forms half of my super awesome Alsuka world and I just... She's so troubled and beautiful, her sin is pride and yet sometimes she wonders if she'll ever be good enough.

And she's a goddamn hottie who will kick your ass off.

Tom Stroud-MacManus (nee Stroud), the husband of my OC Aidan. Tom was created by [livejournal.com profile] jou, and she is an incredible artist who then drew this picture of him, and made it into an icon... There's a matching one for Aidan too. The "ten years ago" part in the tag is taken from an amazing story about them, "In Lieu of a Decade (Your Kindness)."

This is going to sound super creepy, but I like pictures of people sleeping. I think it's really lovely and relaxing and I'm not a somnophiliac, it's just soothing. Whatever. Anyway, this is Alice from "Odin Sphere," my most favorite of all games, and Alice is sort of...the vector for all the different storylines of OS to come together - each part of the game is something she reads in a book. I also love pictures of people reading, so it's a lovely compromise.

I just uploaded this one! It goes with my reading theme. Also I really like bats. I like bats a lot. It's from some children's book about bats in a library and it was just...too many kinds of awesome and adorable. Look at how intent it is! Look at the big ears! BATS. I'm for them. And I love the color scheme.

See? People sleeping. Or passed out here, whatever. This is Katrina (Christina Ricci) from Tim Burton's "Sleepy Hollow" which is probably my most favorite of all his films. I absolutely love everything about it and I fall asleep to it most nights during October and November. It's my fall movie. It's perfect.

Speaking of perfect movies, "Stranger Than Fiction" is one of them, and I can't even begin to tell you how much I wish I'd written the script or made the movie. It's such an excellent love story and it's so funny, and this here is Karen Eiffel, the author-narrator who struggles with her writing and angsts about it and I find that very very comforting, since I do the same thing. Writing occupies so much of her life and it drives her nuts. I find a kinship there. And Emma Thompson is just also endlessly fantastic.

From [livejournal.com profile] thistlerose:

My number 3 anime is Rurouni Kenshin, and this is Kamiya Kaoru. She is Kenshin's ladyfriend. And one of the things I love about Kenshin is that it can be deeply moving and painful and serious, and then be remarkably ridiculous. Kind of like real life. I absolutely love this expression, and it's just such a useful icon to have to express my appreciation with things. Also she looks kind of nuts, which I mean, she is, but. I like that.

I don't even remember where this came from. It's sort of baffling, because it's actually one of my oldest icons, and every time I considered deleting things, somehow this one always managed to stay. I have no idea why I find it so appealing. I think it's the colors and the composition? It can convey so many things like...."laundry." And... "red." I don't know. But hell, it's been around a good five years now, I think it's probably going to be here a lot longer.

This is one of the few icons I have that I made myself. It's from a site of pictures from abandoned places in Japan, and this is an apartment building in Mamesaka. I fiddled with the colors a little, and I like how it turned out, and it's one of my....sort of sad, contemplative, oh-god-Japan icons. Because Japan and I have a weird, endless relationship, and sometimes I get very longing-y for it. This just seems to convey it best.

This just makes me happy. "HELLO THIS IS MONSTER. MAY I SPEAK TO THE HOMEOWNER?"

If you've met me recently, you probably don't know that I love photography and I love taking pictures - I just haven't done much of it recently, especially since film is a dying medium. But I have a deep attraction to camera-ology and CPine just looks so damn pleased with his camera and really adorable in general. I love his coat.

Apparently, this is the cover of some pulp novel. I'm a sucker for novel covers like this. And I mean...what? What is this book? I want to read it now. Because you've already given away that there are flying eyes, where can it possibly go from there?

..I like silly things. :F

And now I'm thinking I need to find a seat not near a window because I can barely see my screen. Curse your inconvenient outlets, Borders!

I like bats, too! And pulp novel covers. And icons of people sleeping.

Thumbs up all around.
