"Will you pret with me?"

Last night at work Nicole put on "Fright Night," because that's what it was.
In a brilliant move to sucker...er...induce new students to get Four Star accounts, we gave out free rental coupons. Since you can't rent without an account, this is a clever plan: lure them into the largest selection of movies in Wisconsin, and then they belong to us.
BUT IT MEANS 39875328957y32897592874329873 (yes, with the y) are in the store at all times and they're asking questions and renting the same thing over and over and over and they look at me with their vacant, staring eyes... This isn't to say I don't have the best job in the world, because I do. But people are stupid and make bad renting decisions.
Tonight will be another struggle not to put on FMA or "Shaun of the Dead," both of which I want to show every single night.
Meanwhile, for your reading pleasure, my thoughts on "The Office," "Pretear," and "Better Luck Tomorrow," below
The Office - I preferred "Black Books," but I can see why my housemates watched this and nothing else for about two weeks. Well, sort of. They were fucking nuts after all. It's that painful kind of humor, except when it's brilliant, and it has catchy songs, and staplers in jell-o. I have no idea how an American version would work, though. If they screwed up Coupling, they have little hope with this one.
Pretear - Aja is going to kill me. Maybe it's the me and shoujo thing. I really don't care for shoujo. I wasn't particularly interested in any of the characters except the chauffer, and the pretting thing is vaguely sexual/creepy and Aja won't pret with me. :( So why are Amy and I going to keep watching it? Because every time she prets with someone new, she gets a new dress, and dammit, I WANT TO SEE ALL THE DRESSES. Also, we believe that Fenrir, the Princess of Disaster, who can only be mentioned with the use of her full title, is either the step-mother or the maid, and we must know. WE MUST KNOW.
Unfortunately, I have the creepy feeling that Four Star stopped at the second disc, and that we will be lack for the third...
Better Luck Tomorrow - ...I know Bob said that she didn't think this was very good, but I honestly didn't know it would be SO INCREDIBLY NOT GOOD. I mean like bang-head-on-wall-make-it-stop not-good. Like it had been on for less than an hour and I was convinced we'd been watching it for two hours. Also GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!! *bangbangbang* This goes on my blacklist, and I had such high hopes for it too. Fuckers.
The moral of the story is, if you can get away with cheating, drug dealing, a coke addiction, and murder, you only have to worry about not being sure where your life is headed. I hate you, movie. I hate you.
Today I have subsisted almost entirely on Eggo waffles, which was a stupid, stupid idea, but too late now.
And I got some amazing, beautiful recs from
kaltia again, so I am shiny.
And now, to work. To work, perhaps to eat something other than waffles.
..but no promises on not showing FMA or "Shaun."

Date: 2005-09-04 01:36 am (UTC)AND OOOH! EVEN BETTER! It's someone DIFFERENT in the manga XD Actually, most of the manga is completely different.
And you don't see ALL of the dresses until the very last episode, so you will have to see the entire series, I'm afraid. My goal in life is to MAKE all of her outfits XD XD XD XD
I will admit the first 4 episodes are kind of ho-hum, but it gets better. I promise. Disc 3 is my favorite, but Disc 2 is pretty juicy.
