Awesome weather last night. I liked the part where they blew the tornado sirens while the sky was pretty damn clear and you could easily see the sunset. Nevertheless, I snatched Oni out of her cage and booked it downstairs.

It's funny how much my family gets all "O.O" when the sirens go now. Even my dad. I guess when trees come through the window it really changes everything.

Anyway, watched X-Files with Vicky and FMA with David. There you have it.

1. How long have you been in fandom?

If you mean actively aware of it, it would have to be around...seven years, when I was in Slayers. I can't count X/1999 or X-Files because I never talked to people and was a little too young then. :p

2. How did you discover fandom/what was your route into it?

The need for as much Slayers art/fiction/love as I could possibly ingest. My ultimate entry was posting to the message board at "The Princess and the Chimera" to as an author named Pairaka if I could have the lemon version of one of her stories. We ended up exchanging e-mails, I sent her some stuff I'd written, she hosted it on her site, and my fate was sealed.

3. Do you actively participate in any forums you may wish to pimp to me? Any you joined then but would not set foot in now?

Uhhh? I don't really do the forum thing. I do the LJ thing. The Slayers MBs I used to frequent are all gone now, and I guess...for a while when I was really into the band Brandtson they had an MB I posted on...Bleh, no one go to those. LJ is the place to be.

4. How did you discover LJ, and what made you get one?

I don't actively remember, but I think it had something to do with either Pairaka or decken, Pairaka had an LJ, and Gretchen had an online diary and then switched to LJ and I think...I dunno. I've never actively been able to keep a diary since frankly, why do I need to write down what I already know I'm thinking? I'd rather write down things that my friends can read and respond to and yeah.

5. How did you come up with your username?

May is my favorite video game character ever, and she is a little orange pirate from the Guilty Gear series. I've also cosplayed May, my cellphone # spells out MAY-1 and my e-mail in Japan was "Mayinjapan." May is small and squeaky and I loved her.

But why did I choose May over Kettering, or my precious Redux II? I honestly have no idea. But it's been May since I started, and my default icon has never changed.

6. Who is your favorite character, and why?

Errr...I have a lot of characters I love. Maybe May is my favorite-favorite, but then again... I'm pretty fucking attached to Alphonse Elric, yo.

Slayers - Amelia
Evangelion - Touji and Asuka
Kenshin - Misao and Aoshi
FMA - AL. O.O
X-Files - Scully

And I'll shamefully admit it...as pissed as I am at the series, Miroku from InuYasha will always have a special place in my heart. He is worth adoring.

7. Have your opinions changed towards any characters/ships in your time in fandom?

THE BROTHERCEST THING WAS AN ACCIDENT. O.O

The weird thing is, though, I'd largely say no, I haven't changed. Because I almost ALWAYS gravitate towards canon pairings, and for me, Al and Ed together SEEMS canon. They love each other so much, even if it isn't romantic and vaguely freakish, their attachment to one another is so open and real that that's a canon relationship I have interest in.

I guess if it seems canon to me, I'll go with it. I don't like pairing characters together just for the hell of it, and I don't like pairing together characters who have no chemistry/hate each other/whatever.

But as for characters... I really hated Asuka, and now I totally love her. She's one of my most favorite characters ever.

8. Do you write/draw within fandom? What made you start?

Of course. That's how I show love. If I want to write/draw something for a fandom, that's how I know it's real.

I've always drawn, for better or for worse, and I used to write stories about Disney characters when I was a little kid, before I knew anyone else in the world was doing the same thing. :)

9. Does what you write/draw differ from what you would read? How so? What are your biggest kinks/squicks?

No, I pretty much write/draw what I'd like to read/see. I'm very vanilla like that. :p

Kinks - bad!sex, with falling and hurting and "What the hell are you DOING?!" and grossness. Also domesticity. People living together and being happy, just enjoying being together, since the best part of a relationship, I think, is reaching a point where you can just be content being together, doing simple things. Also humor. I love humor.

Squicks - pairing together characters that don't like each other, pairing a character I don't like with one I do like, non-con, bestiality, badly written characterizations, Zel/Lina. ZL will always, always raise my hackles, no matter how long or how far.

10. Of what piece of your work are you most proud, and why (link, please).

Er...I dunno, I dun really want to link anything unless people are interested. Feels awkward. Besides, everyone's already read them.

Hic et Ubique - my opus for Slayers, my alpha and omega. The longest fic I've ever written, which totally destroyed me and left me unable to write for almost two years. And yet the work I put into it, and the time, and the love... it's a very important story to me. I'm incredibly proud of it.

The Elend Arc - for FMA, Elricest. I've never gotten as incredible a reaction to anything I've written/done as I did this. I loved writing it and I love looking over it. I think it's a good story, too.

Corin- Met when we were both in YSP's "The Winter's Tale." We both played Autolycus, and then... I don't actually remember how we met, but Corin is apparently not coming home this summer and I am very displeased, the monkeyjerk.

Don- This is...uh...interesting, because I met Don when I was a freshman in high school, then uh...forgot him for two years, and we met again my junior year. I'll go with the first time we met, though. ;) ...and if you don't know that Don is my boyfriend of 5.5 years, where have you been?

Amy- Met in Mrs. Wheeler's sucktastic English 9 class, and then she left me there aloooone! ;_; But we also had math together. She is my beach girl. No you can't ask what that means.

Anna- my friend Jack's best friend. I have to assume this is around when I met her, because I honestly can't remember...

7 years: pairaka/ tiannanwoods Pairaka is responsible for me being the writer and the fandom freak that I am today. Without her, my Slayers passion would have gone on in quiet and I would have missed out on a whole lot of joy. :)

6 years (spring 2000): kleptoneko/ disenchanted000/ taciturn681514 Vicky, Joel, and Jake, and I met them all at ACen 2000, where we were doing FFVIII cosplay. Vicky threw change down my Selphie dress, Joel was the camera-ish guy, and Jake was Irvine and pretty smoove.

6 years (fall 2000): purestlime/homorshiroi/monkeybobert/decken

Beth - the older of Don's two younger sisters, I think I met her through Vicky and David or something. We were over at her ultimate craft house one day while Don was already at college.

Chenya- My little ball of loving horror, Chenya and I like...met at each other or something. I don't remember how that happened either, but suddenly she was there, and I asked her to draw something for me and if she did, I said I'd marry her, and so it was.

Bob- My now-darling Bob, who came into my Japanese class and schooled me by being better than I was (and I was the best in the class, rahr!) and we lived in mutual fear of each other. She actually HID UNDER A TABLE FROM ME at a party at Chenya's house. And then one day at Wasabi we started talking, and we haven't stopped since.

Gretchen - Bob's sister, whose first impression of me was, I think, me shouting "I CROTCHED MYSELF!" in Japanese class around Thanksgiving of that year. To date, we have only been alone together twice.

5 years: skesera Jess, met her while doing sound for Piscapo's Arm. Little did I know the cunt-punching that was in store for both of us...

4 years: bluejaysfan4eva/ oliverio

Tony- Tony and I joined Piscapo's Arm at the same time. He has diabetes and a baseball cap. HE ONLY DRINKS LUKEWARM SODA. Except that one time.

Oliver- Oliver fell into my lap via David Aaron. It's because of Oliver that I appreciate Asian movies as much as I do. My biggest regret is how shitty of a friend I have been to him, and how much I fail at remedying it. I adore him and miss him terribly.

3 years (AKP): cone_monogatari/ doommuffin_chan/ mcjew/ dursula/ cannopo/ mrmcstumbles

Cone- met her at O'Hare, then sat next to her for about 14 hours on the way to Japan. Together we came to understand the horrors of both Melissa and Chris, and the joins of Subway.

Megan- She of the majestic boobs, my dear Megan who rang the temple bell with me on New Year's and gave me a birthday squid.

Reid- I talked to Reid yesterday!!?!?!!13,1 The only sophomore on the trip, Reid was snarky but charming, even if his pants were too short.

Zara- Hilariously funny, the best camp counselor ever, wife of DJ Shadow (I think).

Kevin- my precious Kevin, who sucks at food worse than I do and is one of the best writers I've ever met. For the latter half of AKP, we were pretty much together all the time, being bitter and cynical and eating at Wendy's. I haven't talked to him in more than a year. I suck.

Nick- program drunk, hysterical, and notable for being the only person who hated Japan as much as I did.

2 years: sarayan/ irishgirl982

Sarah- cast in the fall of 2004 for Piscapo's Arm. She is awesome. I miss her. She gave me a dinosaur for my birthday and lived in the freaktastic hippy dorm of hippy-filth. She's also the subject of one of the best photographs I've ever taken, see HERE.

Lori- met her via Tasuki-no-Miko on DeviantArt during a really ugly fight with another artist. Lori is sweet and amazing, and I suck for not talking to her in ages. Actually, I owe Lori everything that has to do with my current FMA fandom, because she was the one reading Elricest with me at 2 am and encouraging me to write my first story. LORIIIIII!!! ;_;

1.5 years: sake_butterfly/ riot_o_curls/ silver_miko/ sephiress/ western_ink/ timingspoons

Aja- my Aja, my online girlfriend (hee hee), whose RK stories I read while I lived in Japan. When I joined the Shinobi Love ML, I found out she was also on it, and that she had a DA site. I went to her DA site, and she was talking about a CD I'd really wanted. I sent her a note, talked to her on AIM, and like a week after we met, she invited me to go to Otakon with her. It's a well-known fact that she has the other half of my brain.

Rioty- a freakishly talented artist and general sweetie, also met through courtesty of SLML.

Lauren- mod of SLML, met her at Otakon, and she sends me random Elricest on my cellphone. And mmm, Boondock Saints icons.

Dana- SLML, and she lives sooo close to me, but we can't hang out! ;_;

Theresa- A fabulous author who has now been devoured by nursing school, the last few months of my senior year were spent staying up until 6 am talking to her. I miss her.

Sang- Bob's friend that she met at Keio, I was jealous of Sang for getting Bob time, then we were left alone and she was fabulous, and bought me my green "Sang Bag" and we ate at Jonathan's and she let me ask her stuff for my thesis. We also ate Ichigo FuwaFuwa cake, which is a thrill to say. She let me stay at her house after Otakon too, and it was really sweet of her. Her mom is a great cook and she needs to come visit, like now!

Not quite 1 year, but almost: nymeria/ asidian/ liete/ mikkeneko/ taskemus/ zoechan/ bacondreamer

Kaltia- fabulous writer, FMA big lady on LJ, and our first conversation was pure terror on my part, and then for some reason she kept talking to me? I dunno what her deal is. My British bread pet. Every time I talk to her on the phone, I feel so painfully American I want to eat a block of Kraft Cheese.

Asidian- In all honesty, when I read her Elricest fic on ff.net, I knew I was a goner. She is the sweetness of light of all light sweetness, and I wish she was online ever. I miss her writing and her unrelenting cheer.

Julie- my LJ spouse, who I IMed and she knew who I was! O.O and then invited me to share her writing LJ out of the sheer goodness of her heart. And then I jumped over a table at her at Otakon and she was like "..maybe I should rethink this.":p

Mikke- I thought we'd never speak again after our first conversation. And we never did. The end.

Sabrina- SHE GOES TO MY HIGH SCHOOL. SHE DOES NOT WANT ME TO STALK HER. WHY?!

Zoe- Aja's best friend, Zoe is like the most calming person I know. She's awesome and clever and NOT AGAIN and rules, and I wish I got to see her more.

Alex- friend of Aja and Zoe's, drove us to Otakon, helps me with computer stuff from time to time.
