This happens every few months and every time it still amazes me.

I was watching the Sci-Fi channel with [livejournal.com profile] homoshiroi, and X-Files came on. I named the episode within three seconds of the opening scene - "Genderbender," from season 1. It's pretty much notable only for the fact that it briefly features Nicholas Lea who would later become Alex Krycek. Other than that, it's not a very good episode, and it looks so oddly dated now - Mulder and Scully look so young (and they were) and their partnership is tenuous (and it was) and the story on the whole doesn't make a goddamn bit of sense.

But I watched it and it was still one of the best things I have ever seen.

Why is X-Files so amazing?!

This show. I love this show. I can't believe how much I love this show and how sometimes I forget how much I love this show and how absolutely phenomenal it was and still is.

I love that X-Files is the only fandom I've ever found that has consistently brought me nothing but pure, unadultered happiness. I love watching it with people, I love watching it at night when I'm alone, I love how much I love Mulder and Scully. I've been with it for ten years now, and even sitting watching a really lame episode filled me with such a sense of familiarity and joy and comfort.

Oh X-Files. Don't stop believing.
