"You blame the Americans for my tie?"
Jul. 31st, 2007 03:40 pmDon and I saw "Rescue Dawn" last night, which I very much liked, but then again it was a Werner Herzog film, starring Christian Bale, about the Vietnam War. All of these things are relevant to my interests. And it had an awesome score that I would love to own. It was the first time I've been to the new Sundance theater at Hilldale, and it was very high concept and somewhat complicated and advanced and unnecessarily expensive. I mean, it was nice, but it's not worth being charged $2 more just because the seats recline a little.
And now I'm watching "The Pianist," which I think might actually be the first Holocaust-themed movie to break my heart. Maybe it's because I'm older now and it's been a very long time since I last saw "Schindler's List." Which...you know, you need to be in the right mood for that anyway. The kind of mood where you want to be punched in the face by Spielberg's masterful fist of history for three hours.
...is it wrong to love the costume design in "The Pianist," though? I mean the coats the men are wearing. The COATS. Eet eet eet. @.@
I'm a bad person.
