It's a bomb, duck and cover!
Feb. 26th, 2003 01:10 pmSo, just so it's said, my uhh...Vietnam fantasy is in no way meant to be disrespectful or to discredit the real trauma and horrible actions that Vietnam vets had to witness, nor do I mean to downplay or dismiss the memory of those who died, who are MIA, or may still be POWs.
So.
YESTERDAY I SAW THE BEST MOVIE. It was called "The Atomic Cafe" and it was all about stuff in the fifties about how to survive an atomic attack, and it was horrifying and hysterical. There were these montages of people just like, diving at the ground and pulling their coats over their heads, and kids in school leaping under their desks. They had this one couple walking down a street, and then they just launch themselves at a wall, and you have to wonder if in rehearsal one of them even plowed their head into said wall and got told "If you did that during a real attack, you'd die because you didn't duck and cover!"
...I just think that's a funny thought.
My favorite part was this kid dressed in a suit that looked like it was made out of oven-mitt fabric and this crazy leech-monster hood, and they put him on a tricycle and they're like, "You're all safe now, kid!"
It was really hot.
I will own this film soon.
YEEHAW!
