My friend Shaun from Four Star is doing English teaching in Korea, and I was wondering if anyone who was familiar with said country at all could help with these two questions he asked me last night:

1. Why would he get kicked out of a comic book shop for trying to buy something? Like apparently he tried to pay and they pointed to the exit.

2. What is this mysterious food? It looks like some kind of ULTRA BACON, but apparently does not cook well in a pan.

I have played ridiculous amounts of Odin Sphere this weekend and now I keep hearing that vegetable-squeaking sound whenever I'm doing something and it freaks me out.

Also I apparently have sleeping sickness.

And I saw "3:10 to Yuma," which was decidedly awesome and I would ebay again. If I could stay conscious. I will possibly report more on this subject later, but I must go shmooze with bits of my department and eat free food.

at first when i read "sleeping sickness" i read it as that you have a sickness that prevents you from sleeping... and that generally we'd call that insomnia..., but then i remember what the sleeping sickness is, so i should stop now.

The food is called Mou ri guu gii which is basically pig head. Like.. pig head cheese :P You just stick the package in the microwave for a minute or two and eat.

As for the comic book thing, I'd have to know the whole story before jumping to any conclusions :/

And now it's in a convenient, microwavable package! Actually, I hear it's quite tasty when eaten with kimchi and pickled garlic ;P

Btw, tell your friend to stay away from "mung mung tang." There's only like, 2 places in all of Seoul that serve it, but that's.. uh.. puppy stew. o_o
