OH SNAP two entries in like twelve-ish hours. I've gone crazy!

Today is my day in back at work, which means that I'll in front of a computer getting things ready for rental on Monday at midnight. It's rather repetitive, and somewhat tedious, but I like it because I don't have to clean any returned DVDs or sleeve them, or stand up in the cold cold front. I get to sit down in the cold cold back and listen to the eight fucktons of music I've lately downloaded.

In other news, one of the guys I work with has some kind of little design company, and he's asked me to do some drawing for an account they're working on for a pizza place downtown. It's supposed to be a five-panel comic about zombies and pizza, which shouldn't be hard since I draw myself zombfolk all the time. But there will be money involved, and I'm at a loss because I have no idea what to charge. Most of you know that I'm awkward about selling my art anyway, and I usually will take anything from three quarters to a pound of yarn in exchange.

Can some of you art-selling people help me? Otherwise I'll end up asking for a bag of flour.

And HEY [livejournal.com profile] decken! When are you going back to Wales? And speaking of Gretchen and Co., HEY [livejournal.com profile] monkeybobert and [livejournal.com profile] kleptoneko, do you want to go to afternoon tea at Ma Cha tomorrow? Lemme know so I can switch opening with Adia. Conversely, we could also go down to that one bar I was talking about tonight, you know, the one where I wanted to drink an angry bulldog? Anyone?

What I do when I'm not sure about prices, is I make 'em match the rate on my other job. If you think each panel will take you an hour, charge for five hours at the rate you'd be making if you were at work.

Don't fall into the trap of considering your skills or the effort you plan to put into the strip. Just base it on the time you expect to spend on the job. *nodnod*

O.o I can't charge him $35 for five panels! That would be insane and I'd have such guilt. ;_;

Mal looks so thoughtful, though...

It's not insane at all! Rationally speaking, your time would be better spent working somewhere where you COULD make $35 in the same amount of time, don't you think? So if you don't charge at least that much, why bother? *assumes practical teacherface*

... Make him give you at least $35 in pizza, perhaps. You could have a total pizza party. :B

Mal is also adorable.

EDIT: THHTPPTH, except that I'm dumb because your friend has the design place, not the pizza place. Ask for the money!

I agree with [livejournal.com profile] jou there, you should be at the very least get $35 for it, being that it is your time spent working on it, you should at least be able to get paid the same hourly rate as you would if you were at work.

granted, just ask him first to see what he thinks is reasonable, who knows, maybe he'll say 100! and then you can be like "oh, no, i don't need that much, just 75 is fine" or something like that~

i'm also assuming they don't want a comic of people becoming zombies after eating pizza? (probably the other way around, usually..?)
