Absoludicrous
Jul. 8th, 2008 10:54 pmWent to the doctor today and got two vaccinations - one for Hep A, and the other for cervical cancer. The info sheet on the latter said that side effects included arm pain, headache, and tiredness. All of these occurred, and in that order, and the tiredness was so hardcore that it actually knocked me out for 5 hours. It was like I closed my eyes for a moment and time skipped forward an hour; I'd look at the clock and go "what the hell," then fall back asleep and it would happen again.
Then I got up and had dinner but now the head pain is back and I think my brain is bleeding and I'm still tired. Also, old question, but why are all my dreams terrible, and lately why do they all involve me losing Oni? Bleagh. I'd like sleep a lot more if my dreams didn't consistently suck so hard.
And I forgot to drink things today so I'm thirsting to death.
In other news, nothing else happened. I'm thinking about asking Joel if I can move my desktop computer to his house and use
homoshiroi's key after she's gone because I need a space without distractions to just finally finish my goddamn thesis and his house doesn't even have furniture so that's about as not distracting as you can get. And it's very close to my job, so I could go there right from work.
And my laptop is lagging so badly in such weird ways that it took about 10 minutes to post a comment to
wofl_iron's journal. This is on top of the failing keyboard and the overheating but I just love this computer so much and it's been with me for 5 years... I don't know how to move on. I'm scared. If anyone has computer-loss coping strategies, your help would be much appreciated. ;_;

Date: 2008-07-09 12:49 pm (UTC)And I know what you mean about it being scary looking for a new computer. I felt such a massive attachment to Beast. But now I have a new, pretty computer. And the good thing is that, with schools starting up soon, if you can last about another month or so, you might get GOOD DEALS on a new computer. We should go computer browsing together and see all the pretty new computers that are available!

Date: 2008-07-09 12:56 pm (UTC)Also, Windows XP is officially no longer commercially available, but can still be found in small computer shops so if you get a new laptop they most always all come with Vista (except Dell still does XP with some models...but I cannot recommend Dell. At all.)
But if you still have your original XP disc/etc. that might solve getting around Vista. I could be wrong about that, I'm hoping I'm right because I'm clinging to XP majorly.
Since your current one is lagging that much, I say it's certainly time to move on computerwise. Also, take into account, a lot of computer hard drives pretty much give out after 5 or so years. So getting a new one is also probably a good preventative measure from losing your entire hard drive. Recovering from that? Oh..it stings. Lots.
