All lies lead to the truth
Jul. 26th, 2008 05:56 amI saw the X-Files movie last night with
harukaceles and
decken and I'm utterly baffled.
I don't know how else to describe it.
I don't feel betrayed or hateful or gnashy, I just feel confused.
Maybe it has to do with the whole realization that it's actually been 10 years since the first one and that's kind of shocking. But I don't really know.
It's not that I'm a huge fan of the whole "EEK ALIENS" thing, but I feel like...the absence of the Syndicate in any capacity was a huge loss to the film. It was like one very long standalone episode, and hell I like those just fine. It was just the sense that I'd seen this one before a number of ways -not just the episodes they overly mention (Beyond the Sea, Clyde Bruckman, Unruhe), but also the kidnapped victim/other person connection in Oubliette, and the "nexus" of Paper Hearts.
And all of those were great.
I dunno. This isn't very coherent. I guess I missed CSM. All the old evil guard.
Having always been ambivalent about whether I wanted them in any kind of romantic relationship, I still haven't decided what to make of that, although the bed snuggles were kind of cute. I want them to be happy together, but I'm not sure if I mean that kind of together?
Two other things that actually really did bother me - evil gay people? Is it about love or is it wonky and uncomfortable? And "you're still trying to save Samantha." WHAT. WE ENDED THAT. IT WAS IN THE EPISODE CALLED "CLOSURE."
Crap, I have to open the store now. Maybe more thoughts later.

I agree...
