Spear and magic helmet
Nov. 30th, 2008 10:13 amMy boss called me a little bit ago to tell me one of my coworkers -Richard, who I worked with all day yesterday- was in a serious bike accident. She didn't know exactly what serious meant in this case, but he was in surgery and...she said she'd call me when she knew more.
I'm not going to say that Richard and I were terribly close, but we are friends, and I'm kind of disoriented right now. I don't know what kind of accident it was but all I can think is that he, and almost everyone else who works there, and that I know, never wears a helmet when biking.
It might not even be a head injury, but... I don't know. It seems callous to think about what this means for schedules (though I'm sure I will later since now I'm the only person trained to open and we just lost someone to Chicago). I'm worried and sad.
Please wear a helmet if you go biking? ;_;

Date: 2008-11-30 05:24 pm (UTC)As for biking, my parents always refused to let me ride without a helmet, which I *hated* *loathed* with a passion. So I sold my bike and never rode one again, because I'd rather not ride than wear a helmet. I still feel the same way. Hence, the reason I don't own a bike.
I hope your friend gets through surgery okay and that he has a swift recovery. I'm sending him good thoughts and healing vibes. And as far as scheduling goes, it *is* a valid concern, so don't beat yourself up for considering it. *snuggles*
