And in other news,infinityduck and I saw "Shutter Island" on Wednesday night and it ended up messing me up a bit for a while. Not in the same way as "The Road," although both of these movies should have taught me to stay off IMDB boards when I'm in movie-vexed state. I don't really know why SI confused me so much, but since then I haven't been able to stop thinking about it.
I feel a bit awkward about it, since I read some fairly unfavorable (and one really funny) reviews, and working with movies all the time, people are critical of what you like and don't like and it's Scorsese and bladhsdkkdjh... It was heavy-handed at times, especially with the music, but there are scenes I just can't get out of my head.
And I am in love with the song that plays over the credits like I haven't loved a song in a very long time. I downloaded the OST last night and I just. Again. I can't get it out of my head.
Dinah Washington and Max Richter - "This Bitter Earth/On the Nature of Daylight
The original is amazing too because Dinah Washington is fantastic, but this breaks my heart and puts it together and I don't even know what to say. It does things to me I can't even understand.
Chris sweetly bought me the book, so I think I'm gonna spend today reading it.
