Just as a head's up, according to Christy Eva doesn't sell and I witnessed that firsthand as no one bought her Eva prints at AZ. Blorch sells though, and Death Note.

And I might be popping by Otakon for a bit, as I'll be in the area that weekend so we'll see, but it's looking very iffy.

Addendum: you could do buttons of the Glee characters. The right people will get who they are and the wrong people will think they're like your original high school kid characters or something.

Agjsdhs thanks for the heads up. Who even knows, man. Still with the Blorch? I thought it had turned into DBZ by now, with people powering up for three episodes or something. And Death Note? What? Why is that... I should just not think about it.

It really just depends on who is at the convention this year. We may get a lot of old school fans, we may get a lot of Narutards and Bleach fanatics. It seems to change every year. I once sold Xiaolin Showdown fanart. I mean really, who even WATCHED that.

Every convention (not just the specific conventions, but each year) is going to be different. I say go with what you want to do. And maybe do a few safe pieces, iunno.

I'm the worst at anticipating anything, so yeah, I think the general theory is to just wing the hell out of it and hope for the best. My buttons do much better at Neko than Otakon, which I figure works along the same scale of "people are interested in random goddamn shit!"

A lot more people are going for Katekyo Hitman Reborn! lately, which is good cause it's my pet series. With FMA coming to an end, people will be wanting their last nibbles at the fandom too, so maybe doing some work from there could be beneficial.

I can't make it to Otakon, since it isn't in my neighborhood. Good luck though!

Avkssdls I meant to add those to my poll but I completely forgot. FMA is generally a good bet, and I've actually sold a few versions of Ed eating cake, so I'm definitely going with that one. I'll have to look into KHR, I really know nothing about it.

If you want to actually read or watch KHR, I should give you an advisory.

First 60 chapters and 10ish episodes = no noticeable plot whatsoever. Can't skip them though because there is hidden plot. XD;
First 80 chapters and first season of the anime = kinda ugly looking. After that, Amano Akira gets an art style shift and it looks awesome manga-wise and anime-wise they have a bigger budget.

If you just want art inspiration, look to chapters 181 and ahead. They have new characters people like and new looks for the main characters.

PS. JUST SO YOU KNOW. We CANNOT sell licensed characters on buttons this year at Otakon. NONE. Which means only original character shit. YEAH. I KNOW. But at least that means your arch enemy won't be making shit making us angry.

Is it just characters on buttons SPECIFICALLY or is everything supposed to be original and also oh my god. Fuck nuggets, nothing I draw even looks like the real characters, so maybe I can sneak things by again? Whatever. We'll make it go.
