The waiting game
Feb. 2nd, 2011 08:23 amCurrently, I am in the queue for a cab that may or may not be able to pick me up in an hour. It's more accurate that in an hour I'll have to call them and see where we are.
The fact of the matter is, that yes, even in a blizzard, my boss expects the store to be open, because the university is closed, and when the university is closed we get slammed and do a lot of business, since the students live downtown and can walk to the store.
But this year I just don't have the heart to walk in, not yet at least. Not when my boss will skip coming in at all.
I'm doing my best to be there regardless, but I don't think she can really ask for much more at this point.
Edit: And now I am at work, at exactly the time I should be on a normal day, thanks to Green Cab of Madison, eco-friendly and efficient! Hold your applause though - now I get to shovel and we'll see if I make it through the day without eating someone's face off.
