Take two pigs and call me in the morning
Feb. 7th, 2011 08:00 amLast week was rough. Hopefully this week will be better. One bright spot of last week, though, was that I took the pigs to the vet for a checkup (it had been a year since their last one and the vet was sending me reminder postcards) and they were well received and got clean bills of health. I'm so grateful and feel like I should be constantly knocking on wood, and I'm going to do it again right now....
There we go.
Anyway, the vet agreed that Nicky's eye is Nicky's eye, and that any surgical cure would be worse than the disease, especially since she eats like a pro and doesn't seem to be in any pain.
My mom chauffeured us, and then took some pictures. I now share them with you.

Good lord, who is that hideous bag lady sitting next to the fleece-wrapped piggy carrier?!
Tragically, the coat featured above is probably one of the nicest pieces of clothing I own - it's a Christian Dior coat that was my grandmother's. It also weighs at least 10 pounds and is huge, my scarf sheds all of it, and earlier last week I spilled a matcha latte on it while riding the bus. I'm a walking excuse to facepalm.

The pigs are not thrilled to go to the vet, so there is lots of hiding in their carrier.

You can't see her, but it's Olivia in the metal scalecage. She was most unhappy to be in there. Nicky, of course, was fine with it, but not Olivia. Never Olivia.

But it's very hard to be Olivia, you must understand.

I'm kind of in love with this picture because you can see her white bottom lip. AKjfheadskf so cute can't deal.
I realized it looks like I'm wearing eyeshadow in these pictures. Uh...I wasn't. Apparently my eyelids are just brown.

The vet, who is very kind and obliging, listening to Livvy's heart. Her outstretched sassy foot is indicative of how much this displeased her.

Gettin' squeezed for lumps and bumps. "Why must this be?" she seems to ask.

Nicky, almost Buddha-like in her calmness.

Although the squeezing definitely tried her patience. It's for your own good, girls!

And safely back in the carrier, with good words from the vet, ready to go home.
And now it is back to ye olde grinde. No snowstorms forecast for this week, and I need to make myself go to yoga so I can be a healthy role model for healthy pigs. Or something.
There we go.
