Jim wakes up when the light in his quarters begins to brighten. It’s isn’t quite like daylight – nothing is, really, unless you’re on-planet – and it’s quite jarring to have the bulb above your head go on, but it gets the job done.
He checks his chrono. 0500.
Hikaru makes a protesting noise next to him. Hikaru’s a morning person like Jim, but he’s got his limits on what constitutes a ‘morning’. It’s a debate they have endlessly. Hikaru’s idea of morning begins at 0900. To Jim, that’s half a morning wasted; time he uses to exercise, eat breakfast, shower and read the RSS feeds just as Hikaru is grumbling his way out of the sheets.
Hikaru lifts his hand, and lets it drop – splat – on Jim’s face, a silent protest.
Jim sucks the closest finger into his mouth, and tongues it suggestively. Hikaru makes a grumbling noise into his pillow, and makes another one when Jim rolls over and pokes him in the side with his erection.
Hikaru ignores him. It’s something he’s really good at, except Jim knows all his little workarounds, which includes reaching around and grabbing Hikaru’s dick.
Except Hikaru’s dick is ignoring him too.
Jim palms it a couple times, hopefully. No response, except Hikaru starts snoring, loudly. Jim’s pretty sure he’s faking it. To wake him up, he pokes him a couple more times.
“Stop,” Hikaru says loudly, eyes still closed. “Can’t you read the sign? CLOSED FOR BUSINESS.”
“But I’m your favorite customer?” Jim wheedles.
“CLOSED.” Hikaru repeats, and turns over on his side, his back to Jim, a solid wall of NO.
Except Jim doesn’t believe in no-win situations, so he just waits a bit until Hikaru’s breathing goes back to something more like normal sleep-mode, then he fastens his mouth over Hikaru’s nipple, and slides his hands between Hikaru’s legs.
His head thumps against the far wall from the bed before he knows it, the breath knocked out of him by the force of impact. He lays there stunned, examining a livid red foot print in the center of his chest, before looking back up to the bed.
Hikaru hasn’t moved. Without changing position, breathing, or tone, he says, “Told you.”

4. Kisses. Especially first kisses. But kisses preceding, in the middle of, or following sex are also very important. Kisses accompanied by needful groping are especially important. I am definitely a kiss fetishist and so I like my kisses to be long and lingering. They don't necessarily need to be explained in detail, I just want to know they're kissing for a long time.
5. Deliberate (and fictional) power imbalances. I sort of like it when there is a definitive top and a definitive bottom when it comes to the sex act itself, which is obvious even if there is switching... I like it when one partner is more in control in the bedroom. I don't like this to go on outside the bedroom so much; there I long for the mutual codependency I mentioned earlier, which is just about as balanced in power as you can get. Like you, I also really like friendship and deep affection in fic, but for me I want it to be in the context of a relationship that is at least a little bit screwed up. I tend to fall for characters who are mentally unhealthy in some way or another and so they tend not to be the sorts of people who can have simple, sweet, or uncomplicated relationships... even though that's probably more what I like IRL.
