Last week seemed so tremendously busy or something. I'm not sure I got home before 8 pm any day but Friday, and that was because I skittered out of work early and then fell asleep.

But I went to the gym, cleaned out the super disgusting fridge at work, nearly went catatonic in a meeting with my boss where she just talked and talked and talked about her newest money-making venture that sounds (as usual) like a terrible idea, got to eat at a new dumpling restaurant, saw HP 7.2 and drank a rum and coke simultaneously (I am harcore), and gave a bachelorette party.



I was interested in people's reactions to the movie, particularly because for so many people, they talked about "growing up with the characters" and how it influenced a generation. And I don't feel that way at all - I was 15 when the first book came out, didn't even know it existed until I was 16, and never actually cared to read any of them until this past winter. Hell, the first movie came out when I was a freshman in college, and I couldn't have cared less because you know what else came out then? LORD OF THE FUCKING RINGS Y'ALLZ. And that's where my heart really lies, obviously. :F

But I did enjoy the books a great deal, and I liked the movie, although I spent the first hour trying to remember all the horcruxes and being irritated that I was missing one. I cried at the same part of the movie that I cried at reading the book, and other than that I was completely fine. Except for the Neville-appreciation, because he is a rocking dude and yay Neville/Luna, yay.

In the wake of this, I went looking for Neville/Luna fic, found almost none, and then took a sorting hat quiz from lisa_thomas to finally determine what house I would be in.

To be honest, though, my favorite part may have been the soundtrack. I really dug that. I will have to find a place from which to procure it for not so many dollars.

And yes, I did mention a bachelorette party. It was for monkeybobert and it was a good time, even though we opted not to try to go to a strip club because we are cheap and didn't want to pay a cover charge or deal with a drink minimum. Instead there was not-Japanese-Japanese-food, saketinis, funny hats, a porn store with $1 cock rings that we wore like actual rings, pie with exorbitant amounts of oreos, then crafts while we watched bad "sexy(?)" movies. I will have to get the pictures. I considered it a great success, and much less intense and taxing than going out all night in New York. I think we were all tired by midnight. :F

And then my parents came back from England and brought the pigs fabulous presents from Harrods and a stuffed "plague rat" for me. They know me so well.

Now it is Monday and I'm totally going to yoga this week. For real.

The quiz placed me aggressively in Ravenclaw (followed by Hufflepuf, Slytherin, and way at the end: Gryffindor), I fear, which is mildly disappointing. It always seemed liked being a Ravenclaw was the boring option in the Potterverse. Were you in Potter's class? Were you a Ravenclaw ... congratulations, almost nothing happened from your point of view.

Actually, I think Hufflepuff was much worse. Ravenclaw at least had the distinction of being the smart and clever kids who were busy doing smart and clever things, while Huffelpuff was apparently the reject house, and its only notable student got killed out of the blue. :F

I know what you mean about LOTR those books had much more of an effect on me - I grew up with those books and the animated movies. I liked HP up until about book 5 and then I just kept reading because i had to finish the things. I enjoyed most of the films, and i did enjoy this last one. I'm just not as cut up about it as everyone else is.

I got Ravenclaw on that quiz. So not surprised.

I am now and always have been much more of an LotR person than I ever was or will be an HP person. i remember when the first movies from both series' came out - people were like "wooo Harry Potter!" and I was like "I'm sorry, the main even is Fellowship, thanks." And no movie has ever made me cry like RotK.

Book 5 was a struggle for me because everyone was just a teenage troll, but I did enjoy 6 and 7.

And yeah, I hear you about the movie. I guess it's an ending for some people, but not really for me.

I got 51% Slytherin 51% Gryffindor and probably since having not chosen a preference, was sorted into the former. Hahaha! If only I had told the hat I want to be in Gryffindor... totally Harry Potter route.

It was Neville O'Clock! Very good times were had by all Neville fans. And yeah, the lack of fic was terribly sad to me. HP fanfic confuses me, I don't really know where to look and what I find is usually not exactly what I want.

I'm in the same boat. I didn't start reading it until I was seventeen or something. But I wasn't in the LoTR fandom either. :( BADASS NEVILLE is always something to look forward too!

Wow, you're almost split into exact quarters. I believe there was this line that said the remaining students who didn't end up in any other house went to Hufflepuff. Which is probably why it's so undervalued. But they have stuff like reliability and fairness, I think.

Aha, I would be that kid, too. Then I would go on a stakeout in front of the entrance and forget the answer a couple minutes after.

It's not bad. Honestly my mixed drink of choice is a Shirley Temple, but I wanted to pretend I was a grownup. ;)

I was never actually in the LotR fandom either (when I was reading it, we didn't have internet fandoms grumblegrumbleold) but it's just stayed with me all these years. My dad loves it too, so it's something we share.

Yeah, Hufflepuff is...well, as Hufflepuff does. And I liked Cedric Diggory, I was sad to see him go. I just feel like they often got the short end of the stick as a house. :F

The "sexy(?)" movies were "Nude for Satan," which was Italian and utterly incomprehensible, and then "Erotic Nights of the Living Dead" which was at times just straight-up porn. It took the living dead a long time to show up, too. And actually, it also didn't make much sense. But they served their purpose! :D
